CLIMB TO CONQUER BREAST CANCER
REACH FOR THE PEAKS is the newest addition to The Prouty Challenge Event series—athletic events, like The Prouty—which bring people together to take action in the fight against cancer. The 2012 REACH FOR THE PEAK climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro kicked off our hike/climb/mountaineering program with a bang and was a WONDERFUL success, not only as a fundraiser for Norris Cotton Cancer Center, but as an amazing experience.
For mountains are a special place, combining beauty, majesty, seclusion, and simple elevation to produce a matchless, near spiritual experience. It got us thinking about how to bring the Prouty mountaineering program to more people—to bring it home to New Hampshire—and to bring a very special experience to those who want to stand up and DO something to fight cancer.
It seemed only right to bring our first New Hampshire climb to Warren, home of Mt. Moosilauke. After all, Audrey Prouty, the courageous cancer patient who inspired the creation of northern New England's largest fundraiser, was from Warren, N.H. and where New Hampshire’s Senator Norris Cotton was born.
So this year on Saturday, September 28th and 29th, we’re launching the Climb to Conquer Breast Cancer. We’ll bring together those touched by breast cancer to spend the night at the Dartmouth Outing Club’s Ravine Lodge and then rise to hike Mt. Moosilauke—all to raise funds for research and patient services at Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
If you’d like to experience reaching for the peak on Mt Moosilauke, to challenge yourself, feel the exhilaration, and have an experience of a lifetime, check-out THE CLIMB and GET INVOLVED on the navbar above. Spots are limited to 50 people so please sign up SOON!
