Reunion 2008 Summary

Two presentations were held at DHMC on Friday, September 28:  The Eighth Annual CME Symposium with Sarah Johansen, DMS ’89, Granville L. Lloyd, DMS ’93, Robert L. Thurer, DC ’67, DMS ’68, Maryann Volpe, DMS ’88, Diane M. Dwyer, DMS ’78, and the Class of ’73 Special CME Symposium moderated by David Knopman '73 and Pearl O'Rourke '73.  That evening, everyone enjoyed a welcome reception at the Dartmouth Outing Club.

On Saturday, alumni participated in local activities from golfing and canoeing on the Connecticut to visiting other favorite spots in the area.  Over coffee, Dean Green gave an update on the school and on the Transforming Medicine Campaign.  Class meetings were held to nominate a class representative to the Alumni Council.  A luncheon brought everyone together on Dartmouth College's BEMA where there was plenty of barbecue food before heading off to the Dartmouth v. UNH football game.  It was a spectacular autumn day.  Joe Denny, a Dartmouth sports director, hosted children’s activities with lawn games, a special bounce house, and crafts.  Dean Green gave a short welcome, then accepted reunion giving reports from highlighted reunion class committees.

The day ended with special dinners at the Lake Morey Resort, while children got together for a movie night. Although the drive to Lake Morey was a bit remote, alumni enjoyed the new setting and the food and those who stayed at the resort enjoyed golf, kayaking, and the view of foliage over the lake.

On Sunday, DMS alumni said farewell over breakfast at the Hanover Inn. Although rain showers took place most of the weekend, alumni spirits weren't dampened.  Friendships rekindled and promises were made to come back in five years to enjoy company again.  We are happy to report Reunion questionnaires reported very high ratings for the entire reunion program.

The dates for Fall Reunion next year are October 2-4, 2009.   All alumni are encouraged to visit Dartmouth whenever they can. For any assistance with travel or lodging, please visit our resource page or contact the Alumni Office.
