Dr. Oglesby Young’s career is marked by dedication: to his patients, to his students, to his community, to his profession, and to his medical school alma mater. During his 35 years as a practicing OB/GYN at Concord Hospital in Concord, N.H., Dr. Young cared for generations of women, mentored medical students, devoted his work to improving the lives of children and their parents, and never lost touch with Dartmouth’s medical school. From the start of his time at Concord Hospital in 1982, Dr. Young welcomed two third-year Dartmouth medical students for each of eight ob-gyn clerkship blocks every year. He served as the Dartmouth Medical School clerkship director in Concord for 25 years. Remarkably, Dr. Young has now taught five Dartmouth medical students whom he delivered and last year had one medical student whose mother was his student 30 years ago. As a dedicated alumnus, Dr. Young has served in many roles, including as Alumni Council class representative, Alumni Council president, class secretary, class reunion chair, and a White Coat Note writer.
