Alumni H.O.S.T. Program
One of the easiest and most direct ways to connect with Geisel students and lend a helping hand is through our "Helping Our Students Travel" (H.O.S.T.) program. Alumni participants provide lodging to fourth year students traveling to internship and residency interviews during the fall and winter, saving students hundreds of dollars on the costly process of interviewing for residencies.
Welcome a student into your home, and you’ll be rewarded with the chance to make a personal connection with a Geisel student and get an inside view of the medical school experience of today. For their part, our students appreciate the perspectives our alumni can share about their community and possibly the medical center at which the student is interviewing, and the chance to discuss their career aspirations and learn from your experiences.

Students and alumni have been enthusiastic about their participation in the H.O.S.T. program. Here’s what some of our students have to say:
- I had a wonderful experience with the H.O.S.T. program. It was very comforting for me to know that I had someone to stay with when traveling to New Haven for the first time. It was great to chat with my host about DMS and what things have and have not changed since she graduated. Many of the people that she remembers fondly are still a large presence at DMS and it was quite fun to see what an impact several of our faculty have on many young physicians from different DMS eras. – Alissa
- The H.O.S.T. program made my interview trail so much more comfortable. – Yukako
- I really appreciated the opportunity to participate in the H.O.S.T. program. It not only helped to relieve some of the financial burden of the application process, but also allowed me to connect with a DMS alumni family. It's easy to connect with someone who also spent an entire year of their life sitting in Kellogg. – Katie
